Creative Writing Workshops for:
Intensive Fiction Writing Workshop
A creative writing class that focuses on fiction writing. We begin by exploring the basics:
Character, plot, conflict and resolution. Discussions on the elements of strong writing, unique voice and what makes a reliable and sympathetic character. What doesn’t work and why? How to break rules and get away with it. What do you mean revision should take me longer than the first draft? What is critique and why is it helpful? Workshop usually aims attendees to begin a work of fiction on the spot.
Life of an Author
A one to two hour long discussion and Q&A about the publishing business. (This can also be altered to any age group, and can be run from community libraries.)
Assembly Programs for High School Students
30 minute high-energy assembly talks related to Please Ignore Vera Dietz subject matter of decision-making, destiny, what really happens after high school and how you can shape your own future, even if you make mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes. The trick is to not make them twice.
Creative Writing Workshop for Literacy Students

A fun creative writing seminar for literacy students and their tutors.

Finding Your Writer's Middle Finger:
An examination of persistence, voice and breaking traditional writing rules.
Based on the title of her popular essay series, an hour of rebellion with A.S. King, exploring questions writers often ask, like: Do I suck? Will I ever get published? (Once published = Will I ever make a living at this?) When should I just give up? What is good writing, anyway? What is voice and how do I get one? Who can help me? The workshop focuses on personal growth and self-esteem as a writer, as a query writer, and as a published author. 15 minute Q&A to follow.
